On May 18, VISPOP – the 1st Visayan Pop Music Festival will have its Finals Night at Benedicto College Artists Hall.

Taking on the ambivalent tagline "Bisayaa Uy!", VISPOP aims to alleviate the current state of Cebuano music on the radio by introducing a more professional and competitive playlist of new Cebuano songs. However, its organizers are quick to point out that VISPOP is not just another contest, it is a songwriting campaign.

From 80 entries, VISPOP chose six finalists who will battle it out on May 18 at the Benedicto College Artists Hall. They are Marianne Dungog & Kyle Wong with “Balay Ni Mayang”, Paterno Niñal with “Hinaut”, Alphecca Perpetua with “Historias”, Marie Maureen Salvaleon with “Pa-Pictura Ko Nimo, Gwapo”, Lourdes Maglinte with “Laylay” and Jewel & Joe Villaflores with “Duyog.”

Each of the interpreters will be performing with a live full band on that day with guest performers Missing Filemon -- who will be paying tribute to Max Surban, and Bisaya rapper Kris Villarino aka Pain in the Neck. This is a spectacle that will be directed by VISPOP core team member and Artist Ko Vice Chairman Cattski Espina.

The judges for the Finals Night are DTI-Director Nelia Navarro, Cebuana award-winning singer Anna Fegi and FILSCAP board member and legendary singer-songwriter Gary Granada. There are three categories for the judging criteria – Music, Lyrics & Over-all Impact. Music, quality of melody, harmony and rhythm is 30%. Lyrics, arrangement of words and ideas is 30% as well. Finally Over-All Impact, or the musical treatment, commercial appeal, radio-friendliness, uniqueness and other breakthrough qualities is 40%.

VISPOP is organized by Artist Ko or Artists & Musicians Marketing Cooperative led by its core team Ian Zafra, Cattski Espina, Jude Gitamondoc and Insoy Niñal in cooperation with FILSCAP (Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).

[PR] GameTel Bluetooth Controller

The Gametel Controller is an interesting gaming device and it's the best gamepad you can buy for your smartphone or tablet in the market to date! Its built is solid, the clamp is designed practically useful, and the buttons are quickly responsive.

It pairs up pretty quickly, and until now I've used it for about 9 hours or so and haven't had to charge it yet. After it's paired over Bluetooth, you just press on the gamepad and your phone reads it immediately and asks you to change the input device, no need to re-pair. You need to update its firmware from their website and download the gametel app from the App Store or Google Play. Works great with my Android devices and it actually fits on my HTC One X. No more annoying digital controls interfering my screen while I play.

So far, in-game response has been great. I haven't noticed any lag, stuck buttons, or other errors. It's such a great experience to be playing old games again with actual buttons!

Overall its easy to setup and easy to use, and would certainly recommend it for the pricepoint.

  10. Hassle-Free Registration - there are 3 easy ways without memorizing keyphrases

Globe revolutionizes prepaid with ‘create your own promo’ concept
First-ever prepaid promo available on mobile, Globe website, and Facebook

Globe Telecom redefines prepaid as it brings another new and game-changing experience to its subscribers by allowing them to make their own promo the way they want to.

Introducing Globe Prepaid GoSakto, the first and only service in the country that allows prepaid subscribers to create and customize a prepaid promo that fits their needs, budget, and lifestyle.

Another industry-shaking innovation from Globe, GoSakto empowers prepaid subscribers to design their own promo according to what they need, recognizing the fact that customers have different call, text and surfing needs. With GoSakto, customers have the flexibility to tailor-fit their prepaid promo based on what they need for the day, week, or month.

To enjoy their GoSakto promo, subscribers first choose what type of promo to avail: call/text/surf, call and text, call and surf, text and surf, or a combination of all.

Once subscribers have chosen their promo, GoSakto further personalizes the experience by letting them select the type and number of calls and texts they need. Type of call/text can be within the Globe/TM network or across all networks, while number can be bulk or unlimited.  For subscribers who need surfing services, they can also choose between bulk (in megabytes or MBs of data) or unlimited.

Finally, prepaid subscribers get to pick the validity of the calls, texts, and surfing services they availed, from 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, or 30 days.

With the many levels of selection, prepaid subscribers can explore and find the best value GoSakto promo combo in over 2,000 possible combinations, another Globe-first.

There are three (3) easy ways to GoSakto: via mobile phone via*143#, via the Globe website at www.globe.com.ph/gosakto, or via Facebook where they can share their promo to their friends via the GoSakto page on the social networking site. GoSakto even allows subscribers to name their created promo, as well as let their Facebook friends register to the same promo, creating a community of GoSakto users online.

With GoSakto, subscribers are spared from promo availment barriers such as maintaining balance, capping, and limited price points. A GoSakto promo is available for as low as P7, and can co-exist with another promo, giving subscribers more value for their money.

“We are thrilled to disrupt the prepaid market with yet another innovation that will change the behavior of today’s subscribers when it comes to availing promos,” said KD Dizon, Head of Globe Prepaid. “With GoSakto, subscribers will bid pre-made and canned prepaid promos goodbye. No customer is the same as the other. One would want more voice calls, another is a heavy texter, and the other enjoys browsing. One prefers 1-day promos, the other chooses those with longer validity. At the end of the day, you are the only one who truly understand and know your needs when it comes to connecting with your friends and loved ones.”

Added Dizon, “Taking this consumer insight, we at Globe developed a new service that will give the subscribers the power to make their own promo from scratch. Through GoSakto, Globe will be the brand that makes prepaid promos more flexible, personal, and yes customizable. Apart from their own prepaid promo, subscribers can even select how to GoSakto through mobile, website or Facebook, making the registration process more convenient and hassle-free.”

Innovation is what drives the company’s prepaid segment to flourish and grow despite a challenging market. In 2010, Globe Prepaid launched SuperAllTxt20, a breakthrough all-network offer that allowed subscribers to break barriers and connect with their circle regardless of mobile networks. It strengthened its All-Network and Unlimited services, bundling all hero offers with all-network texts and data. It also responded to the growing demand for mobile browsing services by giving subscribers free access to Facebook and Google.

In the area of pioneering experiences, Globe Prepaid took front and center with Load Watch, an innovative service that provides subscribers with real-time information on their load status, permanently avoiding instances of Nakaw Load. Last year, it unveiled its self-service menu *143#, paving the way for subscribers to easily register to their favorite prepaid promos without having to memorize keywords and access codes.

For 2013, Dizon looks at GoSakto to increase the number of promo subscriptions among existing customers, as well as to acquire new ones who are looking for the right prepaid promo that will fit their needs.

As of end-2012, Globe Prepaid subscribers reached 16.4 million, up 6% from previous year despite a highly-challenging prepaid market. Gross additions posted a quarterly-high of 3.1 million in the fourth quarter, 14% above third quarter’s level of 2.7 million on the back of value-for-money offers, innovative unlimited promos, and competitively-priced international services. Net incremental subscribers substantially grew in the fourth quarter registering at almost 300,000 compared to the previous quarter with only 33,000.

Adventist Hospital Cebu opens Stem Cell Therapy Clinic

THE Adventist Hospital Cebu pioneers stem cell therapy with the opening of the n-RICHLIS Stem Cell Center.

Stem cell therapy is an outpatient procedure that regenerates tissues. Designed for musculo-skeletal or sports-related injuries, and degenerative diseases, it is an option for patients who need to go through aggressive medications, long-term physical therapy or surgery.

Stell Cell Clinic at Adventist Hospital

The Specialist

Getting the blood from the patient

Processing the blood and extracting the stem cell from the blood sample

Checking the affected joiunt with a portable ultrasound machine

Extracting the processed stem cell

Injecting the stem cell to the affected joint

Stem cell therapy has an 86 percent success rate. While responses to treatment vary, most people will require only three to six sets of injections, approximately four weeks apart. The recovery period, compared to surgery, is significantly shorter.

n-RICHLIS (Network Regenerative Interventional Cellular Health and Lifestyle Integration Specialists), aims to be the leading provider of clinically-safe, readily-available, relatively-affordable and ethically-acceptable autologous human stem cell therapy in the country.

According to the center’s Physician Specialist Dr. Jeimylo De Castro, n-RICHLIS is the first to offer autologous human stem cell therapy in the Philippines.

“We get the specimen from the patient himself, not from lambs or sheep,” he explains in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu.

De Castro adds that the specimen is taken from the blood, the bone marrow, or fat.

The technology that the center uses is the Harvard USA SmartPReP2, which, De Castro says, is the gold standard and known as the best in the world in terms of stem cell harvest.

Apart from stem cell therapy, the n-RICHLIS Stem Cell Center offers patient consultations, diagnostic musculo-skeletal ultrasonography, therapeutic ultrasound and assisted rehab exercises.

n-RICHLIS is located at Adventist Hospital Cebu, along Tres de Abril St., San Nicolas, Cebu City. For inquiries, visit www.n-richlis.org. (PST)

We are very excited and optimistic about this project as Cebuanos will have another landmark destination to look forward to," says Go.

Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket - The Outlet Of The Future!

Modernize your electrical outlets with Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket, the revolutionary change to the wall outlet in years!

Look around yourself right now and chances are you’ll see at least two or multiple devices every day that are plugged into a power outlet. Your smartphone, your laptop, your PC tablet, your iPod... almost everything gets plugged-in!

For example, your smartphone uses USB power for recharging. You always look for its charger because you misplace it or you lose an outlet with the adapter and then the inconvenience of plugging it to your computer USB port.

Solve the problem and replace a few of your power outlets with Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket in any corners of your home or office where you sit comfortably, even in the kitchen or bathroom.

Imagine: If you could carry around a single cable and plug in any device to the wall, in any country. Utopia, isn’t it?

Mr. Ryan Raymond Yu, President and CEO of Fine Upgrades Plus

So, Mr. Ryan of Fine Upgrades Plus, has introduced us how easy it would be to just build the transformers right into the wall outlets! Put 1 or 2 USB ports in the wall plate next to the voltage sockets, and you've doubled the purpose of your power line.

I just happened to see a handful of these outlets, and Ryan brought them to us during the event because, well, he thinks they're really cool and innovative.

Once your mobile device charger is conveniently built right into the wall, you should be able to enjoy some USB power coming right out of your wall.

These smart plugs also go hand in hand with furnitures exquisitely designed.

So, The Future is Here and it Needs to be Charged with Fine Upgrade Plus Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket! And do me a favor to watch the video below!

My Personal Thought(s):

Save space and get a clean, simple, uncluttered look. Also, reduces your energy costs because unlike external chargers, I think these Smart Plugs only comes on when you need it and automatically shuts off when your device is fully charged!

But, for something that is most like to be a permanent installation, I’m surprised that it only handles 2A. If I were to future proof this, I would redesign it to be able to provide the full 5A allowed for a DCP (Dedicated Charging Port) as per the Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.2 distributed by USB.org. I wouldn’t want to have to swap out wall outlets in 2 years when the next greatest tablet requires a USB charging port that supplies 3A.

Plug into convenience, Plug into Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket - the outlet of the future!

Is your smart phone, tablet and other portable gadgets an important part of your life? Is low battery one of your biggest problems everyday? Technology is now a necessity but all that texting, calling, surfing, games and social networking takes its toll on the gadgets’ battery life. With Fine Upgrades Plus’ newest innovation, you can take control of your gadgets and never have to worry about low battery ever again.

Almost if not all devices need to be charged on a daily basis and most of them are charged via USB. The Fine Upgrades Plus Smart Plug is a simple invention that will revolutionize the way we charge our devices. It combines your ordinary electrical outlet with a USB port giving you an easier charging station for all your gadgets. The best thing about it is it can be installed anywhere just like your regular electrical outlet. Take out your current outlet and replace it with the Smart Plug. No special installation requirements needed. It’s a must-have in every home, office, restaurant, hotel and just about any and every establishment.

Designed by a team of engineers, the Smart Plug has been tried, tested and is 100% safe, complete with the stamp of approval by the Japan and Taiwan departments of electrical safety. The Smart Plug can be installed at any hotel, coffee shop, airport, restaurant, mall, salon, gym or any place where we sit down for at least 10 minutes.

Imagine going anywhere and everywhere and just being able to plug your wire in any outlet to charge. No charger necessary, just the wire. The world is your recharging station! Plug it. Charge it. Simple. Fine Upgrades Plus - The Future is Here and it Needs to be Charged.

Fine Upgrades Plus Partners with Cebu Establishments

To keep up with the needs of the modern customer, some establishments in Cebu have already incorporated Fine Upgrades Plus Smart Plugs (USB Wall Sockets) in different areas within their establishment. Citipark Hotel, located along the Ayala Access Road, Mabolo is officially the first hotel in the Philippines to have installed Fine Upgrades Plus Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket in their newly-renovated rooms. Guests, especially foreign guests, will no longer have to worry about bringing their chargers and adaptors to plug in. All you need is a USB wire and your gadget can be charged in no time.

If ever you are at Chatime Cebu at the IT Park, recharge your body with a refreshing milk tea drink and feel free to recharge your devices as well since this establishment is equipped with the Fine Upgrades Plus Smart Plugs USB Wall Socket Chargers. All you need to do is bring your USB cable. Fine Upgrades Plus truly keeps your gadgets charged even when you’re on the go.
